Your
Wedding Day is one of the most important days of your life
and it is our goal to help make it fun and
memorable for you, as well as for your guests. In order to
do this, I will personalize each event to create a reception
that is a unique reflection of you, the bride & groom.
The perfect atmosphere, tempo and personality
will enhance the ambiance for your friends and family.
At
our meeting(s) we will discuss the "vision"you have
for your wedding & reception and I will make recommendations
based on my experience and together we will create the perfect
combination. It is not always easy to make young people happy
with music choices while not offending Great Grandparents.
Also, when bringing together two families, tastes may vary
so greatly that planning the music selections to please both
may be one of the most difficult parts of your wedding planning.
We
believe that the bride & groom are the main attraction
at a wedding reception. Your friends and family have not come
to see and hear a DJ...they are present to share in the joy
of your marriage. Therefore, we do not believe it is appropriate
for us to do excessive emceeing or tactics that will embarrass
you or your guests.
Approximately
2-weeks prior to your reception we will meet with you to discuss
the details which would include your ceremony music (if applicable),
formal dances, reception play lists and preferences as to
what type of music you do not want played. Together we will
create an approximate timeline that will give you peace of
mind.
Depending
on your personal preferences there may be a need for follow-up
meetings or phone discussions.
A great DJ doesn't just show up at your event without many
hours of preparation.
Ceremony
selections should include:
1) a selection to be played as the family is seated
2) a selection to be played as the wedding party makes their
way to the ceremony site
3) the Processional - this is where the bride arrives and
walks to stand beside the groom
4) the Recessional - this when the newly-weds leave the alter
after the ceremony
We
will also control any special songs that you may want played
during the ceremony -- If you have a special singer, it is
recommended that he/she provide their own music cd so that
it is in the right key for the singer(s). Cordless mic's are
available.

Explanation
of Specialty Dances
Bride and Groom - First Dance:
Typically the bride & groom dance their first dance as man and
wife to begin the dance portion of your reception. Traditionally,
this is a slow song chosen carefully to show how they feel about each
other. It could be the first slow song they ever danced to, a song
from the first movie they saw together or one that is a particular
favorite telling of the love they have for one another. It can be
a new hit or a romantic classic. It has been our distinct pleasure
to play for several couples who have taken professional dance instruction
and have danced everything from a ballroom waltz to a sexy tango.
Father-Daughter
Dance:
The beautiful new bride will dance with her daddy to a song she has
chosen to convey just how much he means to her. Sometimes this song
can be chosen to show how the Father feels about the bride.
We suggest that you consider this carefully and choose something that
is very meaningful to you both.
Mother-Son
Dance:
The Groom and his mother will share this dance and, as with the father-daughter
dance, it is chosen very carefully so it is as sentimental and meaningful
as possible.
It is possible to combine the Bride/Father
and Groom/Mother dances to only one song.
This saves on time and awkwardness of having just two people on the
dance floor for an extended period of time.
We believe this is a great opportunity to symbolize a uniting of the
two families and joining of both to one song.
Parents/Grandparents Dance:
Typically a slow dance where we invite the parents to join the bride
& groom on the dance floor for the first 1-2 minutes of a selected
song and then invite the grandparents to join them...great grandparents,
too, if possible.
This
dance should only be selected if both sets of parents are still together
and happily married or on good terms with each other. This will keep
feelings from being hurt and possibly prevent an uncomfortable moment.
Be sure your parents and/or grandparents are pre-warned about this
dance and are comfortable and healthy enough to participate before
deciding to add this dance to your timeline
Anniversary
Dance :
For this dance, we like to use the song, "Can I Have This Dance
For the Rest of My Life" Anne Murray
Typically this is where we ask every married couple to gather on the
dance floor, then we begin to ask the couples to leave one at a time
according to how long they've been married. Of course, the bride &
groom will be the first to leave since they are the newest married...followed
by those who've been married 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, etc, etc. At
the end, the couple who have been married the longest will be the
last ones on the floor. We then ask that couple to share their secret
to such a long relationship with the new bride & groom.
We like
to do a reverse twist with this popular wedding dance. Rather than
ask all married couples to come onto the dance floor while we start
the song. We like to ask the bride & groom to start alone then
we ask for everyone who has been married up to 1 year to join. We
follow this by asking everyone married 3, 5, 8, 10, 12..up to 50 (or
more) years to join. At the end, rather than having a nearly empty
dance floor, it is full and ready to go into another song...
Bridal
Party Dance:
Typically
a slow song selected carefully by the bride & groom, not so much
dedicated TO the bridal party, but rather FOR them. They will be asked
to join the bride & groom on the dance floor.
The Bridal party can dance with each other or dance with their significant
others. A nice twist
is to choose an active dance like "The Twist" where everyone
can have fun!
Dollar
Dance :
The Dollar dance is designed to give your guests a chance to dance
with you for a few moments. The Best Man & Maid of Honor will
collect $1.00 from each person who wishes to dance with either the
bride or the groom. The typical dance duration is one minute and the
songs are typically slow. No dollar dance should last longer than
20 minutes and it is advisable to pre-arrange the first 4-6 dances
so either the bride or groom is not left standing alone with no one
asking to dance with them...how terrible that would be!
Specialty
Options
Grand March:
This is an introduction of your arrival to your guests. Some Bridal
couples like to have only themselves announced to the room, some like
to have the entire Bridal Party announced. Still others will include
the Parents and/or Grand Parents. Because we are not familiar with
your friends and family by name, we will require you to assign a person
to make these announcements, or at the very least hav someone stand
beside us to assure we are getting the names correct. Typically the
party to be announced will be out of the site of your guests. Depending
on how you wish to perform the announcement, a song will play softly
and the party will be announced as they arrive...to the applause of
your guests, of course. Some like to be announced first, but most
often the bride & groom are announced last.
Toast
to the Newly-Weds:
Toasting
is typically given by the Best Man, Maid of Honor, Father of the Bride
and Father of the Groom. I supply a Microphone to the Bridal table
where they stand next to you as they give their toasts. Or
they can come to my table at the head of the room.
The toasts should be three minutes or less to keep the event moving
forward.
Toast
to the Parents:
Immediately
following the toasting by the wedding party & family, the microphone
is handed to the groom and then the bride who will toast their own
parents and then their new in-laws. This is a great time for them
(if the parent(s) have provided the funds for the wedding) to thank
them for the wonderful day!
Bouquet
Toss:
After all the single ladies have gathered together (at one end of
the dance floor with the Bride at the other) the Bride turns her back
to the girls and tosses the bouquet over her shoulder. The song selected
is usually something playful and fun.
Garter
Toss:
The bride will be wearing her garter under her dress, just inches
above the knee. After the groom removes it
(sometimes with his teeth) he will be placed at one end of the dance
floor, facing toward the single men standing on the other end. The
bride will reach up and hold her hands over his eyes while he snaps
the garter out toward the single men. We love the theme to "Mission
Impossible" for this one!
